Bandcamp Friday Round Up: Fall back Into New Music This October

(Clockwise from top right Aj Elkins, Joe Netta, Best Bear, Grace Vonderkuhne, Pillow Princess, Sug Daniels)

The summer heat might have subsided but there are still plenty of hot new music releases to keep us warm and toasty all fall. For anyone unaware, Bandcamp Friday is when the online record store and music community, Bandcamp, dedicates 100% of the earnings made on that day back to the musicians by waiving their fees. This results in more money going directly to the artists who deserve it!

AJ Elkins

AJ Elkins is a Wilmington based American rock musician, and a former member of the rock bands Darkin and Troubled Sons. As a solo artist, AJ has received nationwide airplay on college and non-commercial radio with his previous musical releases and is back with a full length album Full Circle self released September 9. This twelve-song album contains more of the alternative indie rock that you love from AJ with a leveling up in production and mixing.

Joe Netta

Making their second appearance on our Bandcamp Friday Roundup this year, Joe Netta is back with an impressive collection of chillwave electronic funk tunes. This 18-song album, Clouds That Look Like Clouds, released August 30, has put-on-and-play vibes as each song boops and bops right into the next. They mention in the album notes that production occurred while putting finishing touches on their first album of the year, Up All Night, in January so we’re anticipating more from them in the future.

Best Bear

Philadelphia-based alternative indie rock band made new fans during their Delaware visit in June to Milford’s Ladybug Music Festival. When is the band's latest album released on August 26 and has 14 songs of pure gut-wrenching vulnerable lyrics to keep your post punk heart satisfied. Along with the digital album, they have limited merch items on sale, like tshirts and CDs.

Sug Daniels

Back with a fresh new single released on September 9, Delaware-born and Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter, Sug Daniels, is finding her way in the Folk-Americana genre. Their latest self released single, Be Cool, features their trademark ukulele, lyrics touching on self care and trusting the process, and a groovy slide guitar and mix and master job done by Ryan “Gooch” Nelson.

Pillow Princess

If you missed Philadelphia based with Delaware roots lofi bedroom psychedelic pop band Pillow Princess, here's your chance to taste the magic. They released their first two songs Nowhere To Be and Photo on September 9. If the vibe is right then check them out performing at Silk City Diner in Philadelphia October 20.

Grace Vonderkun

We’re still obsessed and chewing on Grace Vander Kuhn's 2021 album Pleasure Pain. They’ve teased tracking for new music on their Instagram stories but are giving us a treat in the meantime with a new shirt design by Chelsea Grant of Hoochi Coochi and Oldest Sea. This black short sleeve Gildan Softstyle T-shirt features a white illustration of a skull with a third eye surrounded by mushrooms and text in the bottom left corner that reads Grace Vonderkuhn. Sure to be a collectors item and ships out within 5 days.
