Music Review: Debut album "Mutual" Break Up from Delaware Native Maddox Gipko

Maddox Gipko

A Cape Henlopen graduate, Maddox Gipko, is already making waves with the release of his debut album “Mutual” Break Up, out on streaming platforms June 20, 2025. Don’t let his baby face fool you—Maddox brings real substance in his lyrics, vocal delivery, and musical arrangement. His blend of indie, rock, and pop-rock creates a diverse and exciting mix of sounds. He’s already playing shows and even recently shared the stage with local legend and award-winning artist Jimmie Allen at Bally’s in Dover. It’s clear this is just the beginning of a beautiful story for Maddox. Join us as we take a deep dive into his debut release for The Gable Verse before his show at The Listening Booth on July 20th.

“Mutual” Break Up is a 10-track album filled with genre-bending songs that show off Maddox’s emotional depth and musical versatility. His teenage, angsty heartbreak lyrics hit especially hard on more “grown-up” sounding tracks like “If This Is the End,” as doesthe textured arrangement of “Calloused Lies,” featuring violins and banjo. His youth and raw excitement shine on the title track “Mutual Break Up” and “Come Morning,” both driven by wild guitar riffs and high-energy rock drumming. The variety in style makes the album an easy, engaging listen from start to finish.

Catch Maddox live in Lewes, Delaware at The Listening Booth on July 20th. For more info and tickets, click here.
