Music Review: Getting Carried away with Branden Sheets debut album “Runaway”
Branden Sheets is a Swiss Army knife of a musician and producer. A longtime presence in the Delaware music scene, he’s performed with local favorites like TreeWalker, Gunpowder Milkshake, The Psychedelic Puppets, and Ohms. Now, he’s stepping into the spotlight with his fully self-made acoustic solo album Run Away, released on all major streaming platforms on September 12. Every note, lyric, and mix on the record is Sheets’ own creation—he wrote, composed, performed, recorded, mixed, and mastered the entire project himself.
Run Away is a fresh and vulnerable collection that dives into modern life’s messy emotions, from the keyboard warriors of “Well Deserved” to the anxious avoidance explored in the title track “Run Away”. While rooted in DIY acoustic pop, the album still surprises with lush layers of synth, piano, drums, and dreamy, chorus-style harmonies. Already earning radio play, live buzz at cafés, and making history playing Wilmington’s first ever Porchfest, Sheets is riding a well-deserved wave. Be sure to check out his new album and follow him online to catch his next live show.
